Natural or lab-grown diamond engagement rings are available across the range. All made individually in our London atelier.

Oval engagement ring in solid 18ct gold with diamond side stones, Argent & Asher London

The Named Collection — Sculptural High Jewellery Rings in 18ct Gold and Platinum

Five named rings, each built around a different diamond cut and a sculptural claw setting. The Valentina and Aurelia are the oval engagement ring styles — both feature an elongated oval centre stone in claw-shaped prongs with pavé diamonds rising up the sides. The Valentina carries marquise side stones on the band; the Aurelia takes the same approach with a slightly different configuration. Two distinct oval diamond engagement rings within one collection.

The Elara is the pear cut engagement ring — a pear centre stone in sculptural claws with pear-shaped side stones along the band, adding softness and movement. The Varenna is the emerald cut engagement ring — structured, architectural, with step-cut side stones and pavé beneath the setting. The Ardin is the princess cut engagement ring — a square centre stone in a claw setting with a pavé gallery and a pavé-set band for continuous light.

All five named rings are available in solid 18ct yellow, white or rose gold or platinum. Natural or lab-grown diamond options are available across all styles. Each is made individually to order. For gold engagement rings uk with genuine high jewellery construction, these are the starting point. Browse the full rings collection for additional gold ring styles beyond engagement.

Bezel Set Diamond Rings — The Modern, Minimal Approach to a Diamond Engagement Ring

Two rings built on a different philosophy. Where the named collection is about sculptural detail and side stones, the Diamond Pear Shape Ring and the Round Cut Diamond Ring strip the setting back to its essentials — a clean gold bezel that surrounds the diamond completely, letting the shape and the stone do the work. Both take a bezel engagement ring approach: smooth, uninterrupted, considered.

The Diamond Pear Shape Ring sets a pear shaped engagement ring diamond in a smooth bezel of solid gold. The bezel softens the pointed tip of the pear shape, creating a more fluid, sculptural silhouette. Available with a lab-grown diamond from 0.75ct to 4ct. The Round Cut Diamond Ring takes the same approach with a round brilliant — the most light-efficient diamond cut, in a clean circular bezel that keeps the focus entirely on the stone. Also available from 0.75ct to 4ct in lab-grown diamond.

Both bezel set engagement rings are available in solid 9ct, 14ct and 18ct yellow, white and rose gold — making them the more accessible entry point in the collection without any compromise on construction. For a unique engagement ring with a cleaner, more contemporary feel than a traditional claw-set design, these are the right starting point. A 18ct gold engagement ring bezel option is available in both styles for those who want the richer gold colour.

Oval, Pear, Emerald, Princess or Round — Choosing Your Diamond Cut

The cut of the centre stone is the most personal decision in choosing an engagement ring. Each cut has a distinct character and a different visual effect on the hand.

An oval engagement ring is the most flattering cut for finger length — the elongated shape creates the illusion of a longer, slimmer finger, and the oval gives strong light return close to a round brilliant. A pear cut engagement ring has a more directional, distinctive silhouette — it's pointed at one end and round at the other, worn with the point toward the nail. Both are romantic and feminine in character.

An emerald cut engagement ring takes a completely different approach. Emerald is a step-cut stone — fewer facets, a larger open table, and a mirror-like quality rather than the sparkle of a brilliant cut. It suits someone who values clarity and structure over flash. A princess cut engagement ring has the same geometric confidence as emerald, but the square brilliant cut gives it more sparkle than the step-cut equivalent. A round cut is the most universally flattering — maximum brilliance, timeless in shape, and the most versatile cut for everyday wear.

Claw Setting or Bezel Setting — What's the Difference

The setting is how the diamond is held in the ring, and the choice changes how the ring looks, feels and wears.

A claw setting — used across the five named rings in this collection — holds the diamond with individual metal prongs that grip the stone from the sides, leaving the top of the diamond exposed. This gives the most light access to the stone and the highest visual impact: you see more of the diamond, and it sits elevated above the band. The sculpted claw settings in the Valentina, Elara, Aurelia, Varenna and Ardin add a high jewellery character — they're not standard four-claw prongs, they're architectural and intentional. The trade-off is that prongs can catch on fabric over time and require occasional checking.

A bezel engagement ring surrounds the diamond with a continuous rim of gold, holding it flush against the band. This is the more modern, protective approach — bezel-set rings are harder to snag, lower profile, and feel more minimal on the hand. The Diamond Pear Shape Ring and Round Cut Diamond Ring both use a clean gold bezel. The bezel softens the overall look slightly, but the diamond's shape is still fully visible. For daily wear, a bezel-set diamond engagement ring requires less maintenance.

Natural Diamond or Lab-Grown — What to Know Before You Choose

Both natural and lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds — chemically, optically and physically identical. The difference is origin, not quality.

A natural diamond forms over billions of years underground and is mined. No two are identical. Natural diamonds carry a rarity premium and, for some people, that origin is meaningful. Resale values for natural diamonds are generally higher, though fine jewellery is rarely bought as an investment. For the five named gold engagement rings in this collection — the Valentina, Elara, Aurelia, Varenna and Ardin — both natural and lab-grown centre diamonds are available. Natural is typically specified at the larger end of the size range.

A lab-grown diamond is created in a controlled environment using the same physical process as natural formation, but over weeks rather than billions of years. The result is a stone that looks and performs identically to a natural diamond at a significantly lower price point — which often means you can choose a larger, higher-quality stone for the same budget. The Diamond Pear Shape Ring and Round Cut Diamond Ring in this collection use lab-grown diamonds as standard, available from 0.75ct to 4ct. For a unique engagement ring where the size and presence of the stone matters most, lab-grown is frequently the more considered choice.

Engagement Rings — Your Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before you choose.

What engagement rings does Argent & Asher offer? +

The engagement ring collection at Argent & Asher covers seven styles across two categories. The named high jewellery collection comprises five rings with sculptural claw settings and diamond side stones: two oval engagement rings (the Valentina and Aurelia), a pear cut engagement ring (the Elara), an emerald cut engagement ring (the Varenna) and a princess cut engagement ring (the Ardin). All five are available in solid 18ct gold or platinum, with natural or lab-grown diamonds. The bezel-set styles — the Diamond Pear Shape Ring and Round Cut Diamond Ring — are available with lab-grown diamonds from 0.75ct to 4ct in solid 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold. All rings are made to order in our London atelier.

What gold are the engagement rings made in? +

The five named gold engagement rings are made in solid 18ct gold (yellow, white or rose) or platinum. The two bezel-set styles are available in solid 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold. All engagement rings at Argent & Asher are solid gold — not plated, not gold-filled. For an 18ct gold engagement ring, every named style is available in that carat as standard. The bezel styles offer 9ct as an accessible entry point without any compromise on construction.

What is the difference between oval, pear, emerald and princess cut engagement rings? +

Each cut has a distinct character. An oval engagement ring is the most flattering for finger length — the elongated shape creates a slimmer-looking finger and gives strong light return similar to a round brilliant. A pear cut engagement ring has a pointed tip at one end and a rounded base at the other; it has a more directional, individual feel on the hand. An emerald cut engagement ring is a step-cut stone — wide open table, mirror-like clarity rather than sparkle. It suits someone who values structure over flash. A princess cut engagement ring has the same geometric confidence as emerald but with brilliant-cut sparkle. A round cut is the most universally worn — maximum light return in every direction, and the most versatile shape for daily wear.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds? +

Yes — lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They are chemically, optically and physically identical to natural diamonds. The only difference is origin: a natural diamond forms underground over billions of years; a lab-grown diamond is created using the same physical process in a controlled environment over weeks. Both reflect light identically and are graded on the same colour, clarity and cut scales. The significant practical difference is price: lab-grown diamonds are substantially more affordable, which often means a larger or higher-clarity stone for the same budget. At Argent & Asher, natural and lab-grown diamonds are both available across the named diamond engagement rings. The Diamond Pear Shape Ring and Round Cut Diamond Ring use lab-grown diamonds as standard.

Can I customise an engagement ring at Argent & Asher? +

All engagement rings at Argent & Asher are made to order, and adjustments can be discussed with the atelier. For the five named rings, bespoke modifications — including different stone sizes, side stone changes, or band alterations — are available on request. For the bezel-set styles, the diamond size is selected from the available range at checkout. If you have a specific requirement beyond the listed options, contact the London atelier before ordering to confirm what's possible and agree lead times.

How long does an engagement ring take to make? +

Lead times vary by style and are confirmed on each product page and at the time of order. Every engagement ring at Argent & Asher is made individually in our London atelier once the order is placed — not adjusted from stock. For the five named high jewellery rings, which involve stone sourcing, setting and detailed finishing, lead times are typically several weeks. For the bezel-set styles, lead times depend on the selected stone size. Exact timelines are always confirmed before the order is finalised.
